Hey, it's chef Carla and welcome to show up fully. This is a podcast where I share what it's like to show up for your real life if you don't know me I'm a food stylists photographer and health coach. You can find me. @itscarlacontreras on Instagram and more information in today's show notes this episode is day 2 of the show up fully challenged Today. We're going to be talking about deep nourishment yesterday. We talked about rest and this is all part of the show up fully method which is rest deep nourishment movement. Mindfulness and water. These are the 5 things that I used to heal myself and also continually work on as a practice if you want to head back to day one if you haven't listened to it. Go ahead and do that now and then come back. So deep nourishment this means different things to different people and I also want to make sure upfront that I tell you there is a journal and a workshop to go along with this podcast so you can access that in the show notes. So deep. Nourishment for me used to mean like eating greens 3 times of day not eating a lot of sugar and processed foods and like it was like a laundry list of rules around food then I started. Practicing this in 2019 and I'm like deep nourishment is so much more than this physical food and it's so much more than having food rules for me I want to deeply nourish myself and. I like to use the term and I I recently started to use this show up fully foods. So you're hearing this first here I haven't even shared this elsewhere. Show up fully foods for me are foods that really fuel me. Foods that make me feel really good in my body and also when I have treats or as the way that I define treats or as Carrie Glassman say conscious indulgence like actually choosing. To have a treat those show up fully foods I really savor so really savoring ice cream really savoring that dark piece of chocolate. So for me deeply nourishing myself.

Is yes I make this like green smoothie soup. That's like the ultimate fast food with bone broth and ginger and coconut milk and it's awesome. It's delicious and I love it and my mouth is actually watering right now because that's something that deeply nourishes me. But I also like to have nourishment in the form of pleasure. So really assigning and I think that this is the show up fully method like to a t. It's like really showing up fully for every single moment. And that includes food and I know that I'm a trained chef and I probably could talk for an hour about this but I want to really make a point here that the focus of the show up fully foods is yes foods that feel you foods that make you feel good. And also foods that give you pleasure like having a piece of birthday cake or enjoying a hot chocolate chip cookie out of the oven and like sitting your butt in a chair with a cup of coffee with a cup of tea like creating a experience. Creating a ritual around this really showing up for it. Got us a completely different feeling and this is from my personal experience and I would love to know yours that is a completely different experience than when I sit on the couch and grab a bowl of ice cream and and. I'm inhaling it in front of like 4 hours worth of Netflix like that that for me feels totally different and yes is there a time and a place to do that hundred percent but for me that ritual of showing up. For my food and even for the smoothie soup like showing up and I invite you if this resonates with you I I invite you to do this sit down. Enjoy your food put your feet on the ground sit your butt in the chair take a deep breath. And if you're a parent I completely feel you and understand this find a moment to sit down find a moment to enjoy your food. So I talked a lot about deep nourishment in terms of. Physical nourishment. There is other nourishment out there. There is spiritual nourishment. There is energetic nourishment. So I'm going to go deep into this.

In the show up fully refresh. This is a new membership that I am creating and today and part of this challenge. What I would love for you to do is to physically nourish yourself. With the intention of bringing pleasure into the eating experience. So this is again one part of the nourishment process. There are multiple layers kind of like an onion of what nourishment means but today we're just gonna. Touch on what does that physical nourishment feel like for you. What does it feel like what does it feel like emotionally what does it feel like physically how are you feeling in your body when you consume food. What is your posture. When you consume food. What is your anxiety level. What is your stress level. How are you breathing all of these different things.
