Hey, it's chef Carla and welcome to show up fully. This is a podcast where I share what it's like to show up for your real life if you don't know me I'm a food stylus photographer and health coach. You can find me @itscarlacontreras on Instagram and more information in today's show notes this episode. Is day one of the show up fully challenged. This is five full days of showing up for yourself. This is also guided by my show up fully method rest deep nourishment movement mindfulness and water. I have a journal in the show notes to support you with this also a free workshop click on the show notes to get it. So what's the show up fully method. Well it's based on my extreme burnouts in 2018 I worked for six months without a day off launching my online cooking school cook and chop and I entered 2019 after being sick for eight full weeks I was feeling horrible. So I decided to do something different with my. Intentions of the year and I chose rest and deep nourishment as my north stars for my life and for my business and if you're like back in 2019 like these were radical words. I didn't feel like people were choosing these words for their business or for their personal life. Maybe for their personal life but definitely not for their business I feel like as I as I talk about this in 2022. It makes perfect sense to put this into. Ah, business like rest and deep nourishment as as the guiding principles. So what I did in 19 is that I went through that year really focusing on rest deep nourishment and then I added more words this mindfulness movement and water now. And want to make sure that I say this upfront I did not do all of these things at once these were habits that I built on top of each other and through these next five days through this challenge and through these episodes. I'm going to give you light on what rest deep nourishment movement mindfulness and water means to me for me showing up fully is showing up for everything is showing up for and I've said this in.

The most recent episode with Jim Curtis the light and the dark I'm showing up for everything and the way that I can show up for everything is by focusing on the show up fully method by resting by nourishing myself. By moving by being mindful by drinking water. These are the things that ground me this is my practice so today we're gonna talk a little bit about rest and I want to define rest for you in different ways because. When I say rest and I actually I have journal prompts for you. I also have the free journal that's in the show notes as well. I want you to take the time to you can even think about it right now or you could pause this episode. Find a piece of paper in a journal and write down what does rest mean to me and define. It is rest to you getting I don't know 8 hours of sleep is rest to you being able to sit on the couch for. You know 15 minutes is it's being able to curl up and read a chapter of a book is it pausing and taking a deep breath before you start your day. So for me I like to build in these micro. Moments or like mini burst. Actually, that's what I call my prep mini bursts of prep when I'm meal prepping so like how can we bring in this mini burst of rest into your day like right now. Let's do it. Take a deep breath in your nose and take a deep breath out your nose or mouth. That's a mini burst of rest. It doesn't have to be complicated what I'd like to express to you during these next five days is that. Yes, I'm listing out a laundry list rest deep nourishment movement mindfulness water all these things but you can 100% make this your own and you can also make this easy so that's what I really would love to invite you to do.
